Principal Carina Freeman to Leave District
June 5, 2019—Carina Freeman, Principal at Lomond Elementary School, will be leaving the District to assume an administrative position in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Ms. Freeman, principal at Lomond since 2013, will assume her new role as a Network Support Leader on July 1, 2019.

Ms. Freeman is a 1988 graduate of Shaker Heights High School. She returned to Shaker as an assistant principal at Lomond in 2011, and then served as an assistant principal at the Middle School.

Before that, she was a teacher in East Cleveland and Euclid and in a KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) Academy in Baltimore, Md. From 2009-11, she was principal of Adlai Stevenson School in Cleveland. Ms. Freeman holds a B.A. in communication from Cleveland State University and a M.Ed. in elementary education from John Carroll University.

“Principal Freeman leaves a legacy of excellence in the Lomond Community. The students and staff excelled under her leadership,” stated Interim Superintendent Stephen Wilkins.

“Ms. Freeman will be missed,” said incoming Superintendent David Glasner. “Lomond has flourished under her stewardship. Cleveland is gaining an educator with a deep understanding of curriculum and instruction. We wish her the very best.”

The District will immediately begin a search for her replacement.
