Sophomore Julie Larick Earns Third Place at PenOhio Tournament
March 12, 2019—On Saturday, March 9, four Shaker Heights High School students participated in the 2019 PenOhio 9-12 Division Tri-C North Coast Regional Tournament. PenOhio is part of The United Fellowship of The Pen (UFP), a national non-profit organization aiming to make writing a sport all across America.

Shaker Heights High School Sophomore Julie Larick earned an individual award, placing third among students from 14 area high schools. Junior Kate Love and Freshmen Jonny Brinkley and Nichele Abeyesundere also participated.

"It's wonderful that these students take their talents in writing beyond the classroom," says Interim Superintendent Stephen M. Wilkins. "We're so proud of Julie, Kate, Jonny and Nichele."

Congratulations to these students and to their coaches, Middle School teachers Erika Pfeiffer and Sara Lambert!
