Dreyfuss-Wells, Isabel A. Levin and Leo Schirokauer. These four students were among 95 National Merit Scholars in the state of Ohio and accounted for the highest number of National Merit Scholars from any one high school in Northeast Ohio. Shaker Heights High School was among the top three high schools in the state with the second-highest number of National Merit Scholars.

National Merit Scholars are judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Each scholar is selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors who evaluate information submitted by the students and their high schools, including academic record, standardized test scores, contributions in school and community activities, essays written by the students and a recommendation by a high school official.

Nationwide, about 7,600 National Merit Finalists were named Merit Scholars. In all, these scholars will receive more than $31 million in college scholarships.

Congratulations Emet, Fenner, Isabel and Leo!
