Interim Superintendent Visits China for Confucius Classroom Conference
December 4, 2018—Shaker Heights Schools Interim Superintendent Stephen M. Wilkins was invited to attend the 13th Confucius Institute Conference this week in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. He joins Chinese teacher Raina Li, who was instrumental in bringing the Confucius Classroom to Shaker Heights High School, and Class of 2018 Shaker Heights High School graduate Ose Arheghan. Ose was invited to attend the conference for writing a winning People-to-People essay, “Thank you, Confucius!”, last year as a senior in Chinese IB IV at the High School. “As Ose’s teacher, I am very excited and proud to reconnect with Ose at this special event,” says Ms. Li. Shaker Heights Schools is one of only ten independent Confucius Classrooms in an American PreK-12 school district.
