September 11, 2018 – All members of the Shaker Heights community, including current and former students, families, staff, residents, and alumni are invited to “Come Home to Shaker” for the 2018 Homecoming Celebration. The weekend events will also honor and celebrate the accomplishments of the 2018 inductees into the Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame.

The event is hosted by the Shaker Heights City School District, Shaker Schools Alumni Relations, and the Shaker Schools Foundation. Most events are free and open to the public, but online registration is encouraged at shaker.org/homecoming.

On Friday, September 28, adults are invited to a Raider Nation Night Out. Admission is free, with beer, wine and food from Off the Griddle food truck available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Shaker Schools Foundation.

On Saturday, September 29, the community is invited to a pre-game festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of Shaker Heights High School, 15911 Aldersyde Drive. The event will feature rides on the Euclid Beach Rocket Car, kids’ activities organized by the Shaker Heights Recreation Department, hot dogs on the grill, and treats from the East Coast Custard truck and Dough Street cookie dough cart. Student groups will also sell food to support athletic teams and clubs. Admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase.

The Shaker Heights Raider football team takes on the Elyria Pioneers at 1 p.m. at the Russell H. Rupp Stadium. Tickets are available for $6 at the gate, with special seating for Shaker alumni.

In honor of the 100th birthday of Woodbury School, all former students and staff are invited to tour the school and enjoy a musical tribute and refreshments from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday evening, the Shaker community will honor eight inductees into the Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame at Shaker Heights Country Club, 3300 Courtland Boulevard. A cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by dinner and remarks at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person and must be purchased by September 21.
