Raiders shock Benedictine 23-21 on last minute TD

The Shaker Football team entered Friday's home-opener as a decided underdog against the visiting Bengals from Benedictine, but they made sure everyone who witnessed Friday's twilight contest left with a healthy amount of respect for the the Red Raiders as they came away with a thrilling 23-21 victory.
  
The game was a see-saw affair that saw 5 lead changes in the second half alone.  The Bengals took a 7-3 lead into halftime with the Raiders taking their first lead of the game on a Jordan Fuller keeper from the 1-yard line early in the 3rd quarter.  The Bengals answered to regain the lead 14-10 early in the 4th.  Shaker's Rasheen Ali put the Raiders back on top 17-14 with a 43-yard touchdown run with 4:56 left.  Benedictine took a 21-17 lead with under 2:00 left in the game.  After a big Ali return on the ensuing kickoff, the Raiders hit for the game-winner as Wil Schinabeck found Dakota Cochran on a 43-yard play-action touchdown play with :43 left in the game.  The Red Raider defense took care of the rest as Shaker moved to 2-0 on the season.
 
The Red Raiders will be back in action Saturday as they host the 2-0 Austintown-Fitch Falcons at 1:00 PM on Red Raider Day.
