Girls XC takes 2nd at Hawken Invitational
With the graduation of a stellar class last year, there were some question marks surrounding the Lady Raider Cross Country squad this season, but if the first meet is any indicator, it seems they are focused on reloading and not rebuilding.  With 9 teams in the field at the Hawken Invitational on Saturday, including Hawken, the number 1 ranked team in division 2, as well as perennial powers Chardon and Magnificat, the girls stepped up to finish second in a close race with Chardon.  Leading the way was Avery Blaszak, who passed an all-Ohio runner in the second half of the race to finish second place overall.  Junior Juliet Tonkin finished in 8th and freshman Mia Compton-Engle was 10th, followed closely by junior Anna Downing and freshman Anna Carpenter to round out the scoring.  Runners of the Meet were Compton-Engle and Tonkin.  The ladies will travel to the Avon Lake Invitational next Saturday to defend a title that they have won for the last three years in a row!
