Keith Wagner is Named Director of Operations

Keith M. Wagner, a 22-year employee of the Shaker schools, has been named Director of Operations for the District, effective July 1.

In his new role, Wagner will oversee all day-to-day management of building and grounds services to ensure that the District meets federal, state and local regulatory requirements for a safe, healthy, and clean environment. All building Head Custodians and the Supervisor of Facilities will report to him. He succeeds Fred Shalhoup, who is retiring after 34 years of service in Shaker.

Wagner joined the Shaker schools in 1993 as District Grounds Foreman, where he was responsible for overseeing the District’s 88 acres of property, maintaining athletic fields, landscaping, snow removal, deliveries, and equipment repair, in a 24-hour on-call capacity.

He was promoted to Supervisor of Facilities in 2011, with responsibility for operations management and oversight of the maintenance and grounds staff for all of the District’s school buildings and support facilities. In this role, he administered the District’s energy management system, implemented operating procedures in compliance with state and District policies, and developed departmental budgets.

Prior to joining the Shaker schools, Wagner was Assistant Superintendent of Chagrin Valley Country Club. He is a graduate of West Geauga High School and attended Lakeland Community College.

“We are so fortunate to have Keith take the helm of this very important department,” said Dr. Gregory Hutchings, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. “Over the long course of his employment with the Shaker schools, Keith has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to ensuring that our buildings and grounds remain a jewel in the crown of this community. I am confident that he will continue to provide excellent leadership in this role.”
