Congratulations and good luck to senior Sarah Grube, who will compete as one of 25 semi-finalists in the Shining Star CLE competition on Sunday, September 10. Shining Star CLE is a solo-singing competition open to Northeast Ohio high school students. The contestants compete for college scholarships.
Ten students and two alternates will be selected to advance to the final competition, held Sunday, October 22 at Playhouse Square. The competition’s first place winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship and the opportunity to perform with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra at Severance Hall. Second place will receive a $5,000 scholarship and third place will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Grube auditioned by video in July and then in-person earlier this month.
Proceeds from Shining Star CLE will benefit memory care programs offered by Montefiore and The Weils, nonprofit organizations and leaders in senior healthcare, on their campuses and in homes throughout the community.
