Communications Update: Kristen Miller Named Assistant Director, Jennifer Kuhel Joins as Specialist
March 10, 2017 — Kristen L. Miller has been named Assistant Director of Communications for the Shaker Heights Schools. Miller joined the District in 2015 as a Communications Specialist.

Miller works closely with the District’s Executive Director of Communications and Public Relations, Scott Stephens, and will expand her focus on visual marketing and branding for the District, managing the District web site and rolling out a new Shaker Heights Schools app, aiming to put news and information at families' fingertips quickly.

Prior to joining the District, Miller was the Design Director for Cleveland Magazine, where she led a team of graphic designers, photographers and illustrators in managing the magazine’s visual layout and brand. Previously, she was Design Editor at Crain’s Cleveland Business and graphic designer for the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune.

Miller is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and emphasis in graphic design. She is also the parent of a Shaker student.

Jennifer Kuhel has joined the communications staff of the Shaker Heights Schools as a Communications Specialist. Kuhel will work closely with both Mr. Stephens and Mrs. Miller to provide timely and effective communications to parents, students, staff and community members.

Kuhel most recently was a Communications & Marketing Specialist for the City of Shaker Heights, where she wrote feature stories for Shaker Life magazine, created and edited content for the City's website and monthly Mayor’s E-News, posted content on social media and provided tours to prospective residents.

Prior to joining the City of Shaker Heights, Kuhel was a freelance writer whose work was published in The Washington Post and The New York Times. Kuhel also previously worked as a Senior Writer for Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP, held a Senior Editor position at Supply Chain Technology News and worked as a Business Reporter for The Palladium-Item (Richmond, Ind.).

Kuhel is a graduate of The George Washington University, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is also the parent of three Shaker students.
