Reminder: Early Childhood Expo This Saturday!Shaker Heights City School District , in Cooperation with Family Connections, Carol Nursery School, and the Shaker Heights Cooperative Preschool, Presents Early Childhood Expo November 7, 2015

Shaker Heights families with children ages 0-5 years are invited to attend an Early Childhood Expo presented by the Shaker Heights City School District on Saturday, November 7, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Onaway Elementary School, 3115 Woodbury Road.

The Expo will include activities for youngsters, including story time, crafts, music, and a healthy snack. Local child development experts will lead breakout sessions on four topics: positive parenting, the importance of play, preparing children with special needs, and developing a sense of independence.

Breakout sessions will be offered from 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. and from 11 - 11:50 a.m. Parents will be able to choose from two of the four topics offered. Child care will be provided upon request. There is no charge for the event or for child care.

Reservations are not required to attend the event. However, to assist with planning, parents are asked to RSVP online or at (216) 295-4365 to indicate which session(s) they would like to attend and to request child care.

Representatives from local organizations will be on hand to distribute information about programs and resources for families with young children, including the Shaker Heights Public Library, Family Connections at the Shaker Family Center, area preschools, and local agencies and businesses supporting early childhood development. (See complete list below.)

“The Early Childhood Expo is part of the Shaker Schools’ strategic vision to provide support to local families with young children even before their children set foot in our schools,” says Superintendent Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. “We are committed to partnering with our local agencies to provide the firm foundation children need in order to have the successful educational experience all children deserve.”
