March 22, 2019—Shaker Heights High School senior and IB Diploma Programme Candidate Hannah Braun has been offered a Park Scholarship at North Carolina State University. Hannah is one of 40 students from a pool of 2,409 global candidates who were selected based on their demonstrated accomplishments and potential in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character, as evidenced by their performance in interviews and assessments conducted by NC State faculty members and alumni.
Hannah has been awarded a four-year scholarship, currently valued at up to $200,000 for out-of-state students. The award covers tuition, fees, and room and board at NC State. Park Scholars have access to enrichment grants to pursue research, service, or creative projects, and have access to alumni-funded travel grants for study abroad. In addition to these benefits, Park Scholars participate in retreats, field learning experiences, and civic engagement initiatives, as well as mentorships with some of NC State’s top faculty members.
“Congratulations Hannah, on this outstanding accomplishment,” said Interim Superintendent Stephen M. Wilkins. “We wish you the best of luck in your academic, personal and career success beyond Shaker!”
