February 15, 2019—The District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Erin Herbruck as the District’s High School Principal Search Project Manager and the selection of Finding Leaders, Inc., as the search firm. Together they will oversee the efforts to identify top candidates for consideration by the District to serve as the permanent principal of Shaker Heights High School. 

Dr. Herbruck, who currently serves as the Director of Professional Learning, will take on the Project Manager role as part of a transition plan to replace Dr. Lois Cavucci, Director of Human Resources. As a result of this transition, the District will merge the two offices under the leadership of Dr. Herbruck. We expect to make her formal appointment as Acting Executive Director of Human Resources in May 2019. Dr. Herbruck is a career Shaker educator, having taught at the Middle School for 15 years and served in central office leadership roles for nine years. 

 
Finding Leaders, a search firm based in Cuyahoga County, has provided search services for many school districts across the state. While Finding Leaders has a strong track record, Dr. Herbruck’s role will be to ensure that the consultants meet Shaker standards and expectations in terms of recruiting and vetting a diverse candidate pool. In the coming weeks, the Finding Leaders team will be here in Shaker to conduct in-person meetings, focus groups, and to facilitate high school and community input sessions. The group will also set up an online survey to develop the key capacities we seek in our next principal. We look forward to our collaboration with the community as we work to include many voices in this process.

 

The District already has posted the High School Principal position across local, state and national websites. With the appointment of Dr. Herbruck and Finding Leaders, we are now ready to begin the active recruitment phase of the search. We expect to complete the search for appointment at the May Board meeting.
