August 9, 2018—For the past four years, Karen DeMauro's High School portfolio class has participated in The Memory Project, a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, violence, and extreme poverty. As part of the project, Ms. DeMauro's class helped provide $3,200 in educational sponsorships for the students.
