August 2, 2018—A delegation of 18 students and Latin and Greek teacher Mrs. Nora Murphy traveled to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio from July 22-28 to compete, learn and play at the 2018 National Latin Convention. More than 1,800 students and teachers from across the country attended the convention. The Shaker students were part of a 162-member Ohio delegation.
Shaker students won several top awards. Winners included:

- Theodora Bowne, Junior—(wrongly scored as a senior) placed well in Classical Art, Mythology and Latin Derivatives.
- Craig Bush, Junior—6th place Classical Greek II; 7th place Greek Derivatives; 10th place Latin Poetry Reading Comprehension III; 10th place Social Media competition
