2018 MAC Sister Scholars Awards

May 21, 2018—The Minority Achievement Committee Sister Scholars celebrated their end of year awards, honoring members in Grades 9-12 for their academic progress and achievement. The objective of the MAC Sister Scholars is to embrace a sisterhood among African American females that promotes and encourages scholarship, achievement, leadership and motivation. The students are advised by High School Administrative Assistant Tracy Williams and High School English teacher Sharon Craig.

Senior Cielle Brady, who will attend Loyola University in Chicago next fall, shared farewell remarks. “By discussing issues important to us, we were able to create a safe space to motivate and encourage one another,” she said. “From my first day at Woodbury to my last day at the High School, this program has taught me how to exude my potential and to grow into a confident and intelligent young woman.”

MAC Sister Scholars presented awards to Sister Scholars in grades 9-11 who earned the highest grade point averages in each grade (through the 3rd quarter) and an award to the Sister Scholar whose grade point average increased the most over the academic year. GPA award winners included:
