Schools Open Today; Please Read This Message Regarding the Winter Storm Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning Friday at noon. As always, District officials will monitor the weather closely and will be in touch with City emergency officials throughout the day.

We hope we will not need to dismiss students early tomorrow, however, in preparation for possible severe weather, please review our 2017-18 Handbook early dismissal procedure:

  • Shaker Heights High School students will be dismissed with the usual end-of-day procedures.

  • Shaker Heights Middle School students will be dismissed with the usual end-of-day procedures. District buses will transport the students using the regular bus routes, or students may choose to remain at the school for parental pickup.

  • Students in grades K-6 will remain in the school building until picked up by an authorized adult.

All families should have a plan so that children know what to do if an early dismissal occurs. Children should know in advance what to do. Information regarding changes to any after-school activities will be forthcoming.

Also, please use this opportunity to review the District's Closing and Delayed Opening Procedures.
