Onaway Preschool Programs Earn Five-Star Rating

Onaway Elementary School's preschool offerings have earned an outstanding five-star rating in Ohio's Step Up To Quality program. The rating and improvement system is administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The five-star rating is the highest rating available. 

According to Step Up to Quality's website, the rating system recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed licensing health and safety regulations. The program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.

Onaway is home to the Shaker Heights PreK Early Intervention Program and one Shaker's First Class classroom.

"Congratulations to the entire Onaway preschool team on their five-star rating as a culmination of the Ohio Department of Education's rigorous "Step up to Quality" process," said Amy Davis, Director of Curriculum. "The amount of documentation, professional development and teamwork during the entire process was reflective of a dedicated group of highly skilled and collaborative professionals."
