Holly Coughlin Named Foundation Executive Director

Holly Coughlin has been named Executive Director of the Shaker Schools Foundation. She succeeds Christine Auginas, who has retired.

Established in 1981, the Shaker Schools Foundation is guided by its mission to provide resources to enrich the educational experience of Shaker students. As the Foundation’s new Executive Director, Ms. Coughlin will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of all projects and activities that relate to securing external funding for the District. Her responsibilities will include overseeing and managing all day-to-day activities of the Foundation, overseeing the District’s alumni relations efforts, and organizing A Night for the Red and White, which is the signature yearly fundraising event for both the District and the Foundation.

Ms. Coughlin, a Shaker Heights resident, has 20 years of marketing and management experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Since 2014, she has worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio, where she has served as Chief Development Officer and Director of Development. She worked previously for Northern Ohio Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Metheny Weir Painted Finishes, a decorative painting and design startup. From 2006 to 2009, she served as Chairwoman of the Board of the Disciples Christian Church in Cleveland.

Ms. Coughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and a master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University in Chicago.

“Holly Coughlin is a dynamic leader who brings a strong track record of success to this critical position,” said Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Superintendent of Schools. “The scope of her professional experience, as well as her commitment to the Shaker community, makes her the ideal person to lead our Foundation going forward.”

“Since its inception 35 years ago, the Shaker Schools Foundation has made a difference in the lives of thousands of children,” said Tom Wise, President of the Foundation. “Holly Coughlin is the perfect leader to ensure that we continue this important work. We are delighted she is joining our team.”
