Eric B. Forman Named Principal at Onaway Elementary School

Eric B. Forman, currently assistant principal at the Campus International School at Cleveland State University, has accepted the Onaway principal position and will begin July 1. He succeeds Amy L. Davis, who will become Director of Curriculum.

Mr. Forman, who lives in Shaker Heights, emerged as the strongest of 73 applicants. He was chosen for the position after a series of panel interviews and meetings with students, parents, faculty and staff, and community members.

At Campus International, Mr. Forman collaborates with teachers and administrators on school-wide teaching and learning initiatives, facilitates teacher evaluations, manages school discipline structures and assists with operational tasks, such as scheduling and special education services. He is a member of a leadership team supporting implementation of the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Mr. Forman also works with Cleveland Coaching Forum, where he has co-facilitated workshops for teachers, administrators and coaches from numerous regional schools and organizations.

Prior to joining Campus International, Mr. Forman served as director of curriculum and instruction at Entrepreneurship Preparatory School, a Breakthrough Schools charter school in Cleveland serving students in grades 5-8.

He also has been assistant principal at Tompkins Square Middle School in New York City. His experience as an educator includes teaching seventh- and eighth-grade math at Tompkins Square Middle School and at Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School in Cleveland.

Mr. Forman holds a bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences and a master’s in elementary education, both from The Ohio State University. He also holds a master’s in leadership in mathematics education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City.

“Community and staff input are crucial when hiring a new principal, and I want to thank everyone who shared their time, thoughts and insights during this process,” said Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. “Mr. Forman brings a wealth of experience to his new position, and we are fortunate he has agreed to join the Shaker team.”
