SHHS Crew Offers Summer Learn-To-Row Mini-Camps

Shaker Crew's first Summer Learn-to-Row mini-camp for rising 8th and 9th graders is this Saturday, June 10. Space is limited to 24 students. For additional information and to download waivers, email [email protected].

Here's an outline of the day's events: A school bus picks up students up at 8 a.m. at the North Gym parking lot of Shaker High School. After learning about the basics of rowing, the history of Shaker Crew and the parts of a boat from Coach Valerian, students will learn how to use ergometer machines and see how fast to "erg" a 500-meter piece. After a pizza lunch and a safety briefing, campers will row on the Cuyahoga River! The bus returns to SHHS at 3:30 p.m.

There is a $25 fee for Learn-to-Row camps. Cash or checks (made payable to 'SHHS Crew Parents Inc'). Be sure to print and fill out the two waivers, and bring them to the bus along with the fee or student will not be able to board the bus.

Next two camps: July 15th and Aug 5th.
