Fernway Students' Artwork to be on Display in Columbus

February 17, 2017 — Two Fernway Elementary School students have been chosen Ohio Art Education Association to have their artwork displayed in the state capital.


First-grader Vivian Clement's drawing will be exhibited in the 2017 Ohio Art Education Association’s Young People’s Art Exhibition. The exhibit represents Ohio students in grades kindergarten through eighth and is on display at Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus from February 27 to March 17. One hundred ten pieces were selected for the juried show from the nine regions of the state that represent OAEA.

Kindergartener Serena Shaw has also been selected as an exhibitor for the 37th Annual Youth Art Month Exhibition ​ and her artwork will be displayed in the Youth Art Month Exhibition at the State Teacher’s Retirement Systems (STRS) building​, 275 East Broad Street, in Columbus. The artwork will be on display from February 27 to March 26. This year’s show includes one hundred eleven student artworks from all over the state. 

The students' works were submitted by Fernway art teacher Wendy McGuffin-Cawley.

The Ohio Art Education Association is the professional organization for art teachers in Ohio. OAEA works to promote the arts and recognizes quality student art throughout the state through various exhibits at state and regional levels.
