Police Awareness & Student Safety

More than 50 students and 10 members of the Shaker Heights Police Department gathered in the Upper Cafeteria of the High School January 24, 2017, for the inaugural meeting of the Police Awareness & Student Safety (PASS) program. The program is a partnership between the Police Department and the District’s Family and Community Engagement Office. The District urges parents to encourage their high school teenager to join PASS. Applications are in the main office of the High School.

MLK Day of Service

Hundreds of Shaker Heights City School District students from every grade level honored the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by serving the homeless and the home-insecure locally and throughout Greater Cleveland. The first district-wide MLK Day of Service took place on Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 16, 2017, at the High School. The event was sponsored by PTO Council CommUnity Builders, the Shaker Schools Foundation and Game On! Sports 4 Girls. Students and their families from all eight school communities participated in one of three grade-based service projects that included knotting blankets, assembling care kits and assembling hygiene kits for the homeless and others in need. This event demonstrated our commitment to produce not only outstanding scholars, but also outstanding citizens.

Father-Daughter Dance

Shaker dads and daughters were dressed to the nines at this year’s Shaker Schools Father-Daughter Dance, which took place February 17, 2017, at the Middle School. Male parents and guardians of Shaker Schools K-4 girls enjoyed an evening of dancing and fun!
