Middle School Creative Writers Capture the Power of the Pen

Shaker Heights Middle School's 7th-grade Power of the Pen Team claimed first place at the District Power of the Pen Tournament held Saturday, February 4. The team topped 17 other schools to win the award for the first time in the Middle School's recent history.

The Middle School's 8th-grade team also had a strong showing, with three students receiving top awards.

The teams consisted of Sarah Amusat, Julie Larick, Emma Staten, Danielle Krantz, Esti Goldstein, Grace Wilkinson, Olivia Warren, Ashley Sah, Rissa Staten, Aggie Augustine, Aziza Reddy, Mia Compton-Engle, Nichele Abeyesundere, Grace Bourdrez and Mary Margaret Cole.

Shaker Heights Middle School's Power of the Pen teams will be going on to compete in the regional competition in April.

Shaker's Power of the Pen coaches are Sara Lambert and Erika Pfeiffer.
