33 Earn Etymology Medals

Students of Latin and Greek from Shaker Heights High School took away 33 gold, silver, and bronze medals after participating in the fifth annual National Classical Etymology Exam. More than 80% of Shaker’s students who took the exam earned medals.

Sponsored by the National Junior Classical League, the exam tests students’ knowledge of Latin and Greek derivatives in English usage.

Intermediate Level - Gautam Apte, Rachel Brunot, Amelia Gingras, Blake Himes, Sam Katz, Kevin Love, Julia Shin, Sierra Siler, Maria Suresh, Jocelyn Ting, Kate Voyzey

Advanced Level - Sameer Apte, Brian Gao, Ben Robertson, Anav Sood, Narayan Sundararjan, Julia Thome

Silver Medals
Intermediate Level - Brian Johnson, Vishnu Kasturi, Jordan Pazol, Sriram Sundararajan, Ryan Young

Advanced Level - Colin Kempton, A.J. Koch, Cherie Lo, Josh Podl

Bronze Medals
Intermediate Level - Gabe Sekeres, Rebecca Shankman, Jason Suh

Advanced Level - Gianni Ciccarelli, Allison Kao, Ian Morrison, Sonia Richman
