Darlene Bushley to Head Human Resources

Darlene M. Bushley has been selected as the District’s new Director of Human Resources, effective December 15, 2014.

Bushley has broad human resources experience in both the public and private sectors, with expertise in labor relations, recruitment, and the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System. She holds both a B.A. and a Master’s in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University, with a concentration in human resources.

Bushley’s experience in supervision and human resources includes positions with American Airlines and Tupperware Corporation. In 2007, she moved into the public sector as a human resources manager for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Since 2010, she has served as director of human resources for the Warrensville Heights City School District.

“Ms. Bushley’s selection will allow us to take the next step in the transition to a comprehensive human resources department,” said Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. “This is an important element of our five-year strategic plan. With almost 20% of our teachers reaching eligibility for retirement within three years, we need to place high priority on recruiting and retaining the best talent.”

She will succeed Richard Evans, who has served as Interim Director of Human Resources since September, when Lisa Scott resigned to accept a position with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
