Shaker Students Design a VEX Robotics Win

The Shaker Heights High School team of Jordan Brett, Cameron Isenberg, Landon Richardson, and Bonnie Sutherland earned the Innovate Award at the recent VEX Robotics Competition at Cleveland State University.

The students’ Engineering Applications teacher, Joe Marencik, says, “The Innovate Award is earned by the team that has the most innovative design feature on their robot. This is our seventh year doing the VEX Robotics competition, and the game changes each year. In this year’s game, called Skyrise, our winning group made a simple robot that was able to pick up the game cubes quickly, which allowed them to score quite a few points.”

43 teams competed from schools around the region at this year’s event, including 12 teams from the High School.
