September 26 , 2006 — The Shaker Heights City Schools will open their doors to the community on October 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

At this year’s Tour Your Schools Day, Shaker residents will have the opportunity to see the wonderful, exciting things teachers and students are doing in the classrooms of all eight school buildings.

From 9:30 a.m. until noon, residents will also be able to visit the Shaker Family Center at Sussex and learn more about the four early childhood programs provided there. The Shaker Family Center offers the Patricia S. Mearns Playroom and houses the Early Childhood Enrichment Center, Carol Nursery School, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.

Tour Your Schools Day is the District’s annual effort to bring residents in to learn about the schools. No appointment is necessary, and all visitors to Shaker schools must sign in at the school office. Volunteers, students, and staff members will be available to welcome visitors and show them around.

Principals have set aside special times to meet with prospective residents and parents who are considering the Shaker schools. They are as follows:

K-4 schools: 10:30 a.m.
Woodbury: 9:30 a.m.
Middle School: 1:00 p.m.
High School: 11:00 a.m.

School District maps are available at the Administration Building, 15600 Parkland Drive, and on the District’s website.
