Shaker Heights High School Senior Invited to Study Music in England

January 13, 2006 - Shaker Heights High School senior Sean Oden is the first American ever invited to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. He will study under Steven Mead, a prominent euphonium soloist and prolific recording artist.

The son of April Abbott, Sean began his music studies in the fifth grade at Woodbury Elementary School with the baritone horn. He is a member of the High School’s wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, and symphonic orchestra, playing both the euphonium and base trombone. He also performs with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra on the base trombone, the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony on the euphonium, and the Brass Band of Western Reserve in Akron on the baritone horn.
