Shakerfest Celebrates Learning

March 31 , 2006 - The Shaker Heights City Schools will open their doors to District residents as students once again showcase their musical, theatrical, artistic, and academic talents during this year's Shakerfest celebration, which will begin on April 5 and continue until May 31 .

Shakerfest, an annual event, will include such activities as school open houses; student art shows; band, orchestra, and choral concerts; theatre ensemble performances; displays and demonstrations of student projects; and kindergarten welcome parties. Each elementary school will host at least one event, and the Middle School and High School will each sponsor several events, including:

-An Evening of Jazz at 7:00 pm on April 5 at the Middle School Auditorium;
-Concert in Dance 2006 at 8:00 pm on April 21 and 22 at the High School Large Auditorium;
-Shaker by Starlight at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm on April 25 and 27 at the High School Planetarium;
-Shaker Theatre Acting Ensembles—Senior Adult Preview at 2:00 pm on April 26 at the High School Large Auditorium;
-High School Spring Orchestra Concert at 7:30 pm on April 26 at the Middle School Auditorium;
-Spring Pre-Contest Band Concert at 7:00 pm on April 27 at the Middle School Auditorium;
-Asian Art Fair from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on April 28 at the High School Courtyard;
-Ice Cream Social & Band Concert at 6:30 pm on May 2 on the High School Front Lawn;
-Spring Choral Concert at 7:30 pm on May 3 at the High School Large Auditorium;
-Senior Ensemble at FusionFest at 7:00 pm on May 9 at The Cleveland Play House-Brooks Theatre;
-Shakescenes at 7:00 pm on May 12 at the High School Large Auditorium; and
-Music Composition Concert at 7:00 pm on May 15 at the High School Large Auditorium.
