January 20, 2006--Eighth grade students from Shaker Heights Middle School and their parents are invited to attend one of the High School's Ninth Grade Orientation sessions to help plan their course of study for the next four years.

The sessions will be held at the High School at 7:00 p.m., and the schedule is as follows:

Eighth grade students currently attending non-public schools who plan to enter the High School in the fall are also invited to attend the February 2 session.

The High School's Program Planning Guide, which outlines graduation requirements, grading systems, course descriptions, and college requirements, will be distributed and discussed during the orientation. Several days after the program, Middle School counselors will meet with students to aid in initial course selection. Ninth grade schedules will be finalized in March and April during meetings with high school counselors, and letters announcing these meetings will be mailed in February.
