Students at Shaker Heights Middle School took home top honors from the Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair and the Western Reserve District 5 Science Day. At the Science and Engineering Fair, students receiving first place awards were Gabe Jackson and Susanna Pretzer; students receiving second place awards were Robert Abrams, Christopher Mawhorter, Emily Sullivan and Julia Wilson; students receiving third place awards were Maggie O'Connor, Emily Steiner, Michael Triozzi and Patrick White. Xuanji Wang received an honorable mention award.

Allie Emrich, Eden Engel-Rebitzer, Susanna Pretzer and Xuanji Wang qualified for the State Science Day competition after receiving a superior rating in the Western Reserve District 5 Science Day competition. Students who received an excellent rating in the District 5 competition include Robert Abrams, Carlye Bellamy, Gabe Jackson, Hannah Lawrence, Christopher Mawhorter and Abigail Pink.
