Tour Your Schools on October 13

All Shaker residents and alums are invited to see teachers and students in action on Monday, October 13, when all Shaker schools open their door to the community.

Tour Your Schools Day will cap an activity-packed AutumnFest weekend co-sponsored by the School District and the City of Shaker Heights. With fun and entertainment for all ages, AutumnFest is the perfect time for grads to come home to Shaker.

Here’s a rundown of events:

Friday, October 10
• Teen Poetry Slam at the Shaker Community Building
• Dance, Hayride & Friday Night Skate for grades 6-8 at Thornton Park

Saturday, October 11
• Nature Scavenger Hunt for children at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes
• Howl & Hike dog costume contest at Horseshoe Lake
• Hard Hat Gallery at Shaker Towne Center sponsored by the Shaker Heights Arts Council
• Shaker Heights High School Homecoming Parade & Game
• HarvestFest at the Shaker Historical Museum
• Tour Your Library at the remodeled Bertram Woods Branch

Sunday, October 12
• The BASH (formerly the Regatta), a 1960s retrospective party at Thornton Park
   with a Beatles tribute band, exhibits, and activities for the whole family
• Tour Your Library at the Main Library (the former Moreland School)
• Tours of Shaker homes and apartments available for purchase or rental

Monday, October 13
• Shaker Heights Alumni Association Hall of Fame induction
• Tour Your Schools at all eight Shaker Heights public schools from 9-noon and 1-3
• Tour early childhood programs at the Shaker Family Center
   (the former Sussex School), 9-noon
