Shaker Theatre Presents Works Written, Directed by Students March 19-22
The Theatre Arts Department of Shaker Heights High School will present New Stages XXI, its festival of new plays written, directed, managed, and performed by Shaker students on March 19 and 20 at 8 p.m. and March 21 and 22 at 7 and 9:15 p.m.
The plays are Dent in the Wall, by Francesca Klein ‘03, directed by Irene Kirschenbaum ‘03; Falling, by Will Bostwick ‘03, directed by Arlo Hill ‘04; Gorgeous, by Beth Wolff ‘05, directed by Audrey Klein ‘03; Innocence, by Sara Barnett ‘03, directed by Tina Jackson ‘03; Jack in the Box, by Elana Averbach ‘03, directed by Rick Jennings ‘03; Moxie, by Ashley Malone ‘03, directed by Hans Rinderknecht ‘03; and Oh., by Rick Jennings ‘03, directed by Mitch Frank ‘04. Shaker Middle School Presents Bye Bye Birdie March 21 & 22
Shaker Heights Middle School will present Bye Bye Birdie next weekend. Set in the Fifties, the beloved musical depicts a shades-of-Elvis singing idol and his hysterical small-town fans in a thoroughly implausible plot punctuated by lively production numbers. Elizabeth Blakeslee-Vokes directs, with choreography by Polly Dunn and accompaniment by Patricia Strater. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at Shaker Heights Middle School Auditorium, 20600 Shaker Boulevard. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
