Levenson, Moore Re-Elected as Board Officers

The Shaker Heights Board of Education has elected Freda J. Levenson as Board President and Nancy R. Moore as Vice President for the calendar year 2001. It is the second one-year term for each. The elections took place at the Board’s annual organizational meeting on January 9.

Levenson is an attorney, volunteer, and adjunct professor at the Case Western Reserve University law school. She is a trustee of the Shaker Schools Foundation and a past co-chair of the PTO Council legislation committee. A 1969 graduate of Shaker Heights High School, she is the mother of four students in the Shaker schools. She was elected to the Board in 1995 and re-elected in 1999.

Moore is a writer, community volunteer, and former teacher. She has held leadership positions with the Sussex Community Association, PTO, and Shaker Parents Aware. She is the mother of four children, of whom two are Shaker graduates and two are students at the High School. She was elected to the Board in 1995 and re-elected in 1999.

The Board of Education is composed of five residents of the School District who are elected for four-year terms. The Board is a policymaking body that represents the community in providing guidance to the schools’ professional leadership
