31 Shaker Seniors Admitted Early to Top Colleges

Thirty-one Shaker Heights High School seniors have already been notified of their early acceptance into colleges, including some of the most selective in the nation.

The institutions include Brown University, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Connecticut College, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, Duquesne University, Emory University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Kenyon College, Mary Washington College, Miami University (Ohio), the University of Miami (Florida), Middlebury College, Princeton University, Spelman College, St. Lawrence University, Stanford University, Tulane University, Washington University in St. Louis, Williams College, and Yale University.

Shaker guidance counselors say this is a very high number of early acceptances, reflecting both a national trend toward early applications and the strength of the class. The Shaker Class of 2001 includes 46 National Merit and National Achievement Scholars, representing about 13% of the class.
