Bryan Christman to Become Treasurer
SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio, September 9, 1999 – Bryan C. Christman has accepted the position of Treasurer of the Shaker Heights City School District.
Christman, a certified public accountant, has served the Cleveland Public Schools for eight years, first as controller and, since 1996, as treasurer and chief financial officer. Prior to joining the Cleveland schools, he spent 12 years with Coopers & Lybrand, a major international accounting firm now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, L.L.P.
“We are very pleased that Bryan Christman will be joining our district,” said Board of Education President Marvin A. McMickle. “He was the outstanding candidate among several highly qualified professionals we considered. He not only has solid experience in the private sector and in one of the most challenging school districts in the state, but he also has excellent interpersonal skills. We think he will be a good ’fit’ with our organization and our community.”
Christman will replace Daniel L. Wilson, who left Shaker Heights on September 1 after 14 years of service to become treasurer and budget director of the Parma schools.
A native of Cambridge, Ohio, Christman graduated cum laude from Miami University in 1979. He joined Coopers & Lybrand as a staff auditor shortly after graduation and in 1981 became an in-charge auditor. From 1985 to 1991, he was an audit manager for the firm.
During his tenure with the Cleveland Public Schools, Christman headed the payroll and accounting departments and oversaw all external financial reporting. As treasurer and CFO, his additional responsibilities included the budgeting, cash management, and risk management divisions. He played a central role in designing and implementing the district’s financial recovery plan.
Christman and his wife, JoAnn, are the parents of three young children. The family currently resides in Cleveland and plans to move to Shaker Heights.
