Members of the High School Figure Skating Team gave outstanding performances at the Ohio High School Championships held on February 18 in Cleveland Heights. The team placed third in the overall competition, tied for first in the total team freestyle events, and earned more than 20 medals.
High School students on the team included: Steven Aviram, first in High Maneuver Team; Miriam Chelimsky, third in Intermediate Showcase; Stacy Feeling, third in Novice Freeskate and first in High Maneuver; Shoko Kawakami, second in Junior Freeskate and first in High Maneuver Team; Anna Oberfeld, first in Pre-Juvenile Showcase; Amanda Schachtel, third in Pre-Juvenile Freeskate, fourth in Pre-Juvenile Moves, and fifth in Pre-Juvenile Showcase; and Amy Wargo, fifth in Low Spins Team.
Middle School students on the team included: Alexandra Fusco, third in Beginner Freeskate and fourth in Beginner Moves; Alex Schachtel, second in Preliminary Freeskate, second in Preliminary Showcase, and fourth in Preliminary Moves; Abby Shelton, first in Intermediate Freeskate, first in High Maneuver Team, and third in Intermediate Short Program; Bridgett Strong, first in Pre-Juvenile Moves; Alexandra Wagner, fifth in Beginner Moves; and Lindsay White, second in Open Juvenile Short Program. Middle School students are permitted to compete at the high school level.
Lori White, a math teacher at the High School, is the group’s advisor.
