Woodbury Elementary School took home the award for 1st Place Team at the Ohio Elementary Chess Championships in Bowling Green on March 9. Playing for Woodbury were Zane Eisen (5th place individual), Ben Robertson (9th place individual) and Leo Izen (10th place individual).

This victory for Woodbury's chess team follows wins last fall at the Ohio Grade Level Championships, at which Woodbury's 5th grade team took 1st place, and at the North East Ohio Regional Team Championship, where the grades 5-6 team took 1st place. The Woodbury Chess Team will be traveling to the National Elementary Chess Championships in Pittsburgh in May. Paul Swaney coaches the team.
