August 2009
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to the new school year. The staff of the Food & Nutrition Services Department looks forward to providing our students with meals that are nutritionally complete, appealing, satisfying and reasonably priced.
Lunch prices for the 2009-10 school years will be $2.50 daily for grades K-6 and $2.75 daily for grades 7-12. Reduced price lunch is $ .40. Milk is $ .50.
Breakfast is available for $1.75. Reduced price breakfast is $ .30. All breakfasts must be prepaid at least one week in advance.
Our Food Service Program uses a computerized, point-of-sale register system. This system recognizes prepaid funds deposited on account or free or reduced status. All students go through the line in the same fashion, paying for their food items by swiping their student ID cards through a card reader at the register. Please make sure your student carries his or her ID card every day. Menus and updates about our meal programs will be posted at www.shaker.org/foodservice.
We encourage you to use our online payment service, PayForIt.net. Using your credit card, you may pay for school meals, student fees, and seasonal items such as prom tickets, Advanced Placement test fees, and Woodbury 6th Grade Camp, Clap Out T-shirts, and Yearbooks.
PayForIt.net gives you the ability to:
- Deposit funds to your student’s account via credit card at your convenience, 24/7. The money will typically appear in your student’s account within 24 hours.
- Set up a single account for all the students in your family.
- Set up automatic recurring payments to your student’s meal account.
- Generate reports on your student’s cafeteria purchases.
- Check your student’s account balance and request e-mail notification when the balance falls below a specified amount. (Any funds remaining on your student’s meal account at the end of the 2008-09 school year will be carried over into the new school year.)
- Maintain a complete record of your payments.
To enroll in PayForIt, you will need your student’s ID number. You will receive the ID number directly from the school in a mailing, along with other information. For more information or to enroll, go to www.shaker.org/payforit.
Families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced price meals must complete the enclosed application and return to: Cindy Gorfido, District Food Service Supervisor, 3654 Lee Rd., Shaker Heights, OH, 44120, no later than September 14, 2009. A new family application must be completed each year with each student in the household listed on the application. Those students who qualify for free or reduced lunch also qualify for free or reduced breakfast.
Please contact me with any questions about the School Food Service Program.
Sincerely,
Cindy Gorfido
Food Service Supervisor
