Trisha Roy, Senior
Why did you join the Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee?
I joined the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council because I wanted to be able to help harmonize the administration and student body, and offer unique viewpoints to help benefit the district as a whole. I also joined so that I could give back to the Shaker community, as it has continuously given me so much.
What are your post-high school plans?
At this point in time, I'm not entirely sure as to what I would like to do. I would like to pursue either a profession in the medical field, or work with something regarding law and public policy. My main goal is to help those in need through the career I choose.
Describe any activities (athletics, music, theatre, youth groups, etc.) you have been involved in during your high school years – in or out of SHHS.
Traditional Indian dance, Symphonic Band, Model UN, Science Olympiad, varsity tennis
Do you have any volunteer or community service experience? When, where and how much time did you give? How has it influenced your personal growth?
Every year during the spring, I volunteer and help raise money to a foundation that funds for children's education in rural parts of India. I also worked with the Western Reserve Historical Society on a project to help bring through stories of immigration to the community. I choreographed numerous dances for festivals showcasing culture, and I also tutor younger children in math. It has influenced my personal growth by giving me a love for helping other people substantially.
Where do you see yourself in 8-10 years?
In 8-10 years, I hope to see myself in med school or law school, working towards a successful career in either of those two fields. By then, I would have liked to do some sort of program, similar to Doctors Without Borders or the Peace Corps, where I can travel to people in developing countries and provide help to those in need. I would also like to help in organizations which empower younger girls.
