Our Fall meeting on October 2, 2013 of the Shaker Heights School Employees Association met at the Cleveland Skating Club near Shaker Square with a very large group of retirees and guest in attendance.
A social hour at 11:00 am preceded the wonderful luncheon. Eighty-three retirees and their guests enjoyed the gathering. Many retirees who have been absent or out of town and many new retirees made this the largest luncheon group for our association. They had a great time sharing stories, reminiscing past events, and getting caught up on their activities.
Our program included the introduction and remarks by Dr. Gregory Hutchings, Superintendent of Shaker Heights City School District. He outlined the immediate and long range goals he is implementing for the students and staff members.
Following Dr. Hutchings' remarks we were entertained by the Shaker Heights’ High School’s Chanticleer choral group, directed by Dr. Robert Schneider.
The retirees were able to ask Dr. Hutchings questions in an informal setting following the program.
I am pleased to announce that through the efforts of our Retiree Association members we collectively donated another $1000.00 to the Shaker School Foundation for implementing the International Baccalaureate Project.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Please check this web page soon for the details as to the location and program.
We welcome you. Please plan to attend.
