The mission of the custodial staff is to provide students, staff and the community with a clean, safe and comfortable learning environment to help protect the community's investment in education. The Shaker Heights CSD custodial staff is recognized for excellence in the care and maintenance of historic facilities earning high praise from faculty and parents.
The custodial team is responsible to follow all federal, state and locally-mandated guidelines in the cleanliness, safety and performance of classrooms and workspaces. Our custodial personnel monitor building systems (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), boilers and swimming pools. Custodians are also responsible for the safe use of cleaning products and to report any safety, pest or building safety issue. All head custodians are state tested and licensed to service school boilers.
Our custodial staff maintains eight school campuses and six office buildings districtwide, for a total of more than 890,000 square feet. Our custodial staff supports our schools through the school day, after-hours and on weekends and holidays as needed. Custodians also respond to building emergency maintenance alarms and provide general support to the schools in all situations.
