Cooperative Hearing Impaired Program
The Shaker Heights City School District is part of the Cooperative Hearing Impaired Program, a 29-school district consortium-based education program for students with hearing loss. Beachwood and Mayfield City Schools are host school districts. Beachwood's program focuses on various means of communication, including sign language, hearing, speaking and speech (lip) reading. Mayfield's program is primarily an auditory-oral language program. Educational services reflect the specific individual needs of each student.
