Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying

The District’s Policies and Procedures of Behavior and Discipline Governing Students’ Rights and Responsibilities booklet reads, in part:

Harassment, intimidation and bullying are prohibited in school, on school property, on the way to and from school, and at school-sponsored events. As defined by state law, harassment, intimidation or bullying means any intentional, written, verbal or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior causes mental or physical harm and is sufficiently severe, persistent or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational or work environment, without displaying a weapon and without subjecting the victim to actual physical attack.

However, inappropriate behavior does not have to include intent to harm, be directed at a specific target or involve repeated incidents to be considered harassment and prohibited by district policy. The District will investigate formal and informal complaints.

Anyone who is a victim of bullying or becomes aware of bullying should notify the school office to make a report. The person making the report may request anonymity. All reported incidents will be documented and investigated, and the parents/guardians of all students involved will be notified.

No student shall persecute, threaten or participate in any act or acts that injure, degrade or disgrace any student. Hazing is banned in any form.
Pursuant to State of Ohio regulations, the following data related to incidents of harassment, intimidation and/or bullying leading to a suspension or expulsion are being provided to the Board President and published on the District website.
